Ever feel that slight nudge to share your spiritual journey with a stranger but hesitate because well, it’s personal. It may make them uncomfortable. Their response might make me uncomfortable.
Yet, when I was told of an opportunity to speak to a group of ladies something inside me pushed me to say “yes”. I had no idea what I would share, but knew I was supposed to be there.
As I prayed, I felt I should share about a journey from almost seventeen years ago. So I prepared and I went.
I shared my cancer journey. At the end of our session, a young lady came up to talk to me with tears in her eyes. Her story is deeply personal and I don’t want to share it publicly without permission, but what I can share is that she needed to hear my story. She needed to hear that young women do indeed get diagnosed with breast cancer and can certainly die of it. That is the medical truth.
The more she shared, the more astonished I was that my story had a small yet pivotable point in her journey with God, trusting in Him, and learning to forgive.
Over a month later, I am still flabbergasted how God worked it all out for good. (As He promises in Romans 8:28).
You never know what God is doing. He doesn’t ask us to orchestrate anything, He only wants our obedience. He wants us to prepare and then surrender it to Him. He wants us to pray for the participants and trust God is working.
I firmly believe after a speaking engagement that as long as I shared the truth, whether or not anyone tells me what that message meant to them does not determine the success of that message. I share. I pray. God works on hearts. God heals. God leads wherever someone needs to go.
But when someone does share and I see what God is working, wow!
I am honored to be used in some small way to help or encourage and to pray.
We are called to always have a “ready answer”. Honestly, I think part of having a ready answer is to have a ready heart as well. To be prepared to encourage, and to be simply amazed at the interest God has in each of us and the love He demonstrates as He walks with us along life’s journey.
I wonder how many of you reading this have felt that same nudge to share. Yet, wonder, why me? I’m nothing special.
Trust me, God doesn’t waste a thing.
If you feel maybe you have pushed off His request, and need the courage to step into your calling to share, I am honored to pray with you. Please feel free to comment below and/or message me here or through Facebook or Instagram.
God wants to use each of us to help more of His children. Let’s open ourselves to Him for just that.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I want to surrender to You. If You can use my story, please let me be a vessel. Help me not to stand in the way. Thank You Lord, for not wasting any part of my journey with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
