But I’m Not Qualified!
“Moses said to the Lord, “O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” Exodus 4:10
Read Exodus 4:10-12 (We will pick up the beginning of chapter 4 tomorrow!)
“Moses said to the Lord, “O Lord, I have never been eloquent in the past not since you have spoken to your servant, I am slow of speech and tongue.” The Lord said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”
Moses was still wondering if God got the right guy.
Moses needed to speak to the king. First, he needed to get to the king, and not get himself arrested or killed in the process. But assuming he got that far, he then needed to speak to the king. Naturally, that would not just be Pharaoh and Moses having a cozy little chat over coffee.
This would be Moses, entering a large, ornate room filled with Pharaoh’s servants and advisors. Forget about the hope of not looking poor before Pharoah, this is the pinnacle of public speaking!
Did you catch God’s response to all this in verse 12?
Who decided your abilities?( I did.) Now, I will give you the words, and teach you what you need to know. (Stop Worrying!)
Reflections:
1) What insecurities do I have?
2) How have I allowed Satan to use my insecurities to his advantage?
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
You alone have gifted me for your purpose and plan for my life. Please help me ignore what the world might say, or what Satan might whisper in my ear about my abilities, or lack thereof, and let me focus on You and Your voice. Because whatever you have called me to do, you will equip me to do as long as I follow You and have faith. Thank you for always providing just what I need, when I need it. Amen
Thank you for reading! The next post, “What If I’m Not Believed?”, will be posted for Thursday, May 1, Lord willing.
