Ever been in a funk? Maybe you’ve suffered a series of challenging events. Maybe you’ve earned a Masters Degree from the school of hard-knocks. Maybe you’ve got every right to feel down, be negative and refuse to smile.
No one blames you. You can’t always help you circumstances. In fact, the world might tell you that you have every right to feel this way.
But, God has more for you. When He formed you in your mother’s womb, He had wonderful plans for you. And, He still does!
But you’re not there yet. You’re stuck in that funk.
It’s hard to imagine anything different. It’s hard to imagine you would actually experience anything better. Maybe it’s even hard to imagine ever feeling joy again.
Romans 12:2 injects an abundance of hope into this matted mindset: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- His good and pleasing and perfect will.” (NIV)
Just because we are currently in a scenario doesn’t mean we always will reside there.
When life’s been a challenge and we feel knocked down over and over again… that doesn’t mean God isn’t working, or teaching, or growing us.
We must look past the grime we are currently stuck in, realizing I will get through this!
But to get through, we must keep moving, physically and mentally. We can’t park there and give up.
No matter how much we want to.
We need to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
While circumstances may not appear to change, thought processes can.
Attitude can.
Self-talk can.
We can choose to honor God in those moments, trusting He will carry us through.
We can trust Him to change our attitudes from defeat to one of overcoming.
We don’t know when things will change, but we know through Christ, they will.
We don’t know how, but He does, and we can trust Him.
Until He delivers from the current situation, we know we can trust Him to sustain His children.
Until then, we rely on Him to provide the motivation, the persistence, and the perseverance needed to navigate daily life.
Psalm 75 :1-3 encourages us, “We give thanks to you, O God, we give thanks for Your name is near; men tell of your wonderful deeds. You say, ‘I choose the appointed time, it is I who judge the upright. When the earth and all its people quake, it s I who hold the pillars firm.'”
It is God who holds the pillars of each of our lives firm. Even when our worlds are shaking, He is indeed holding us, dearly loved, in the palm of His hand.
Prayer: Thank You God that You indeed are in control. You love me and promise not to leave me, not to forsake me. I can trust You, even in this, that You will work everything out for my good. Help me to trust in You and cling to Your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Thanks Stefanie! This is exactly what I needed. I may read this one everyday for awhile😊
