Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Do one thing everyday that scares you.” I think we need to be selective in the things we do, but stretching ourselves outside our comfort zones, in obedience to God, is a great way to worship.
My word for the year is “fearless.” I made it a point to study fear this year. I find, like many people, sometimes I let fear dictate my life, hold me back from my calling, and dissuade me from pursuing my goals.
As you read my blog posts, you have probably determined I cling to God’s promises. Decades ago, I needed to rely on God for daily life. I was in a new neighborhood, in several new roles, and had no one there for support. I read through the Bible, and started testing God’s promises. I found they are true. And, God is faithful, he never backs out of his word.
Hebrews 10:23 reminds me, “He who promised is faithful.” He is.
I have claimed that promise many times the past six months. I have pushed myself out of my comfort zone, attempting what he’s calling me to do, while shaking in my boots!
Then I read something that I am claiming daily, because it’s true. We are not shaken because we know we are not forsaken.
While outside my comfort zone, I’m scared. I know, if God is calling me to it, he’ll equip me for it. Even if I feel woefully inadequate, he will bridge the gap.
I bet I’m not the only one needing to be reminded of his great gift of providing what is needed to get us where we’re going.
If you, like me, are nervous, scared, shaking-in- your-boots-anxious about the course you’re on, but know you need to take that step, please remember Hebrews 10:23b. “He who promised is faithful.”
He will provide.
The physical needs.
The spiritual needs.
The emotional needs.
The mental needs.
The financial needs.
All needs.
He just wants us to step out in faith and do our part in this picture.
He will provide the rest.
When we step out in faith, we build faith. It’s a win-win for us. It’s a victory that makes God smile.
Are you ready to step out to do something he’s calling you to do? Are you shaking, but trying to remember he will never forsake you? Claim his promise in Hebrews 10. He will help each of us.
Will you join me in prayer for just that?
Prayer: Dear Lord, you know the plans you have for me. I know I can trust those plans. I know you are calling me to do something, but I am afraid. I know you will not forsake me. Please give me courage and faith to take the necessary steps. Thank you, that indeed, I do not need to be shaken, because I know you will never leave me forsaken. Thank you. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
