2 This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
3 For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection Psalm 91:2-4
If you have ever had a serious medical diagnosis, you know that anguishing angst which grips your heart, refusing to release your mind to peaceful slumber.
Yet we are told here we do not need to fear disease.
In Matthew 10:28, we are told not to fear the one who can harm the body but not the soul, rather to fear the one who can destroy both the body and the soul.
Yet, when our bodies are not working properly, both our physical limitations and our mortality are suddenly scrutinized through a magnifying glass. And fear breeds faster than bacteria in a steamy sauna!
“His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”
No matter what challenges we endure, God is greater. His promises are our defense. When we claim His promises we are effectively disarming the enemy.
And, who says he has the right to bear arms?
Reflection:
What are your favorite promises? How has focusing on them made a difference in your life?
Please return tomorrow read how to fight fear with God’s word.
