What brings a tug to your heart? What uncertainty plagues your mind? What lump of stone pokes into your soul threatening to clutch pain as a constant companion?
There are things that raise an unsuspecting blood pressure and lengthen sleepless nights. In the morning, I am weary and drained and despairing. But as I reach for a cup of coffee, the birdsong interrupts the racing thoughts and the sun splashes a greeting across the sky. Those small, seemingly insignificant moments are momentous, if I pay attention.
Those sights and sounds remind me: Who is still in control, and Who is still on His throne.
Those weights suddenly don’t seem quite so heavy somehow. Even in the midst of this, I can find joy in knowing God. Knowing He has even this in the palm of His hand. That He has plans for even this (Jeremiah 29:11).
That He’ll use even this for my good. (Romans 8:28:)
That He hasn’t forgotten me, nor ever will. (Deuteronomy 31:8)
That He holds every tear emitted in my anguish. (Psalm 56:8) Yes, He doesn’t always block the heart-ripping hardships, but He does promise to carry me through them.
And there I can emerge, victorious.
I didn’t fall, wallowing in the pit of despair. He picked me up and ensured I would one day stand on my own because He is supporting His child.
How about you? Are you in one of those awful places of waiting and wondering? Are you both desperate for and yet terrified of answers?
He wants to hold you.
He wants to carry you.
He’s just waiting for you to ask.
Let’s ask Him for just that.
Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank You for seeing me and comprehending the weight burying my heart. Please pick me up and carry me through whatever comes next. Help me trust You, treasure You and Turn to You. I know You have even this. Thank You for the joy of knowing You are here with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
