Will this list never end? I thought as I dashed off to the grocery store. Filling my cart with milk, produce, bread, and meat, I zipped up and down those bulging aisles wondering, does my family consider how much thought goes into providing for their nutrition?
One daughter is headache prone: water-rich produce and the occasional Gatorade for her. One daughter bikes many tens of miles each week. Lots of protein and hearty carbs for her. One daughter loves to blend smoothies. Kale and Greek yogurt sail into the cart for her.
I bet they don’t consider how much time and thought is spent providing for their needs.
And I don’t spend much consideration on how God has provided for my needs.
When I am lonely, He intervenes by prompting a friend to call. When I’m pushing a deadline, He encourages and equips me until it is met.
When I’m overwhelmed by the blending of roles I must fulfill, He quiets my thoughts, urging me to focus on one thing at a time.
He promises to never leave us nor forsake us ( Hebrews 13:5 ) and I must admit, He never has.
He promises to provided for all our needs (Philippians 4:19 ). Over my decades of life, He always has. He hasn’t necessarily provided in ways I have asked or how I would have authored. Yet, I was never left alone or left in need.
What is mankind that You are mindful of them? Psalm 8:4 asks.
He provides for our needs every day; do we give His gifts much thought?
I know I don’t. Just like expecting the groceries to “magically” appear in the pantry and refrigerator, God keeps providing for me.
Whether I think about it or not.
Whether I thank Him or not.
Friend, I don’t know about you, but I must slow down, consider what He’s done and thank Him for His many blessings.
Dear God,
Thank You for all Your provisions: for the materials things, the emotional support, the spiritual encouragement, and for Your everlasting love. Please remind me to stop and notice Your blessings. Please help my heart to be grateful. Thank You for all that You’ve done for me, In Jesus’ name, Amen.
