With an agonizing cry, he stumbled into the room, sinking to the bed.
No Lord, this can’t be.
But after hours of tears streaming frustration and pain from deep inside him, he knew somehow, yes, yes it was.
Sitting up in the now-darkened room, he resisted turning the dial of the nightstand lamp.
The sun had already set on the day.
On his life, it felt.
Years of faith sustained him as his mind scrambled, searching Scripture to cling to, to give him a glimmer of hope.
His mind grasped at a favorite, Jeremiah 29:11.
“Lord, You know,” tears fell down the now marked streams dividing his weary face.
“Lord You know…” he began again, his shoulders racked as he desperately tried to push that promise past his lips.
“Lord You know…”
Have you ever broken down when you tried to lift up Scriptural promises?
If you personally know the pain of waiting for God to do something, waiting for the incredible intervention at precisely the right time, maybe you too have desperately clung to Jeremiah 29:11.
Maybe in your crisis, you tongue can’t seem to push past the first two words of the promise, “You know.”
Yes, our heavenly Father knows. He knows about the past and how He plans to redeem it.
He knows how you and I, His children, feel right now. He holds all those tears and He yearns to present a peace that passes understanding to each of us.
He knows the good plans He has for our future days, plans to prosper us, plans to NOT harm us, plans to gift us a future filled with hope.
He does know, period.
You and I may not be capable of fathoming a favorable outcome, let alone a blessed one. But He is. And, He does.
We need only to trust Him.
Dear Heavenly Father, You know. You promise You know. Please remind me of that fact. Please help me to cling to You, knowing You have me no matter what. Thank you for always fulfilling Your promises, In Jesus’ name, Amen.
